The island had that vacation quiet thing going on, and life in general had been pretty quiet and peaceful for Eliot recently, too.

It was enough to drive a hitter nuts.

He'd bought pretty much everything Williams Sonoma had to offer right now, and had broken in every single piece. He'd actually gotten tired of cooking. So now he was sitting in the living room, reading a political thriller, his reading glasses sliding down his nose.

Oh good god, he'd totally gotten old. This was exactly why he'd talked to Kanan about going off and starting a bar fight sometime.

Parker flipped over the couch to land beside him, holding a bowl of popcorn that somehow hadn't gotten spilled when she did that. "Wanna watch a movie with a lot of explosions?"

Eliot raised an eyebrow at her, marking his place with his thumb and grabbing some popcorn with his other hand. "Anything particular in mind?"

"Those old Bruce Willis comedies. You know, the ones where he hides in the air ducts a lot." Parker's idea of comedy was slightly skewed, because she always wound up yelling "WEAR SHOES!" at the screen at different points of this. She took a bite of popcorn and added, "Or you can pick. I just wanna hang out."

"I dunno, you going to scream about shoes in my ear again?" Eliot asked.

Parker didn't look the slightest bit sorry. "Maybe." She grinned. "Or we could root for Godzilla against the little people and that moth-thing again." She poked at him, then reached for his glasses. "Pleeeease?" If he didn't have the glasses, he couldn't go back to reading.

Eliot twitched his face out of her reach a few times, but didn't really try that hard to stop her. It wasn't like the book was holding his attention that well, anyway. "Goin' a little stir crazy, huh?"

Parker put on his glasses, then looked at him over them. "Yeeeeah. The Island's quiet. Too quiet." She took a handful of popcorn, then said indistinctly through one bite, "May'ee we need another job."

"Was just sayin' something about that to Kanan this week," Eliot admitted. "Well, not about workin' a job."

Parker paused in her munching, and swallowed. "You want to go on a trip or something?"

Eliot nodded. "Show him some of the sights of Earth that ain't on the tourist maps."

And a moment later, they were joined by a Hardison sitting on Eliot's other side. So much for a night of reading. Or personal space. "I say we watch a heist flick," he declared, reaching across Eliot for some of Parker's popcorn.

They liked to throw popcorn at the screen and criticize the stupid plans the characters came up with.

Didn't everybody watch heist movies that way?

"I ain't gettin' a quiet night tonight, am I," Eliot observed.

He did not sound disappointed.

"Nope!" That was fine, Hardison didn't sound at all repentant about it either. "How much quiet do you really need, anyway?"

Eliot finally admitted defeat, tossing his novel onto the coffee table. "Less than this island's been givin' us lately."

"See you say that but when I get attacked by space slugs with acid spit, I'mma give you a real disappointed look right before my face melts off," Hardison said with remarkable cheer about that prospect.

"I could swear there used to be something between 'space slugs' and 'literally nothing to hit'."

"An' then we moved to this island, where folks get abducted by aliens an' possessed by jewelry," Hardison pointed out easily.

"...Gettin' antsy?" Which was different than just being bored.

"It's been months." It would have been slightly less time, but Eliot had melted down instead of gone out fighting during the last invasion. "There's only so much a punching bag can do, man."

"Ain't arguin'," Hardison told him. "I'm easy, I got plenty of targets who need a good hack pretty much on tap."

He'd been raining digital fire on the Parkland deniers most recently, but it was a pretty target rich environment.

"You an' Parker are a little more specialized."

"Yessss!" Parker's leg reached across Eliot to poke Hardison's ankle, and she grinned at him, holding the bowl closer for him to reach. "That one in Italy!"

"The one where they nearly get caught cause the girl tells the mark a really unique catchphrase her dad always used?" Hardison had to snicker at that. What a terrible attempt at a grift! "Yeah, we could watch that. Ain't there a sequel? Or am I thinkin' about the casino ones?"

"Mmmmm, casino ones, I think? But it has a couple of the same guys in it," Parker noted, snaking an arm around Eliot's back to rub Hardison's neck. Now that she was used to them, puppy piles while watching movies were pretty awesome. "I want them to re-do those movies all with women. They would be smarter about it."

"You know they are, right?" Hardison checked. "They're doin' the casino movies with all ladies. It looks good as hell." He pulled out his phone to find the trailer and show her.

Parker climbed around Eliot to get a better view. Then made a lot of squeaky happy sounds as she watched the trailer. "I like her... and her... and her... and oh they are doing that wrong... but they're doing that right...!" She leaned forward farther to give Hardison a passionately cheerful kiss. "YES!"

Hardison laughed at her enthusiasm, at least until her lips were on his and there was kissing to be done instead. "Know what my girl likes," he murmured, returning both the passion and the cheer.
