The loft above Luke's, Saturday morning

Eliot's clothes had all wound up in the general door to couch area, and it wasn't like he had any spares lying around (and trying to wear Hardison's would make him look like a kid playing dress-up), so after a quick shower (when did Hardison and Parker get all this hair stuff? And why was it all the stuff Eliot used?), he wandered out into the living room area in nothing but a towel to at least find his shirt before he got started on breakfast. (He'd learned early in his cooking career that you just didn't work with those kinds of temperatures without covering your chest. And aprons didn't count.)

And froze, grabbing onto the towel to hold it in place, when he spotted the twelve year old girl standing over by the door.

"The kitchen staff downstairs said you'd be up here," she said.

"Um," said Eliot.

"Why are you living with Uncle Hardison and Aunt Parker?" she asked.

"Um," said Eliot.

"You guys need to clean up in here better, Daddy." She nudged the crumpled pile of pants by the couch with the toe of her shoe. "Mummy would not approve."

Eliot rubbed his hand down his face. "Goddammit, Fandom."

[ooc: generally for the assortment of folks currently at or soon to be arriving at the loft, with bouts of slowplay on all sides, but also open!]

Ada nodded. "Yup! And Parker's my mom, but not bi'logically. And I don't call her mom. I call her Aunt Parker. But she's like my mom, you know? She my dads' wife."

Ish. Mostly. The legality was a little non-existent, but when had they ever let that stop them?

"Hunh. I'm adopted," Spike volunteered. Which was cool, most of the time. "I just call Parker Parker." He grinned a little. "Sometimes I call the guys Dad or Pops though. It kind a flips them out. They're kinda-sorta married. You know. Depending."

On the day, the job, who was askin'....

The usual!

"You're adopted?" Ada smiled at him. "That's cool. That means they wanted you. Nana told me all about that stuff when she told me about how she adopted Papa."

"Yeah." Spike's smile settled into something more reassured. "Nana's the best. And I had a mom and she was perfect, but she died in a car accident. I like living with the crew way better than any kind of foster care. Or the sperm donor."

Heh. That's what Uncle Miguel had called him.

"I'm sorry your mom died," Ada said. "But I'm glad you get to live with the crew now. And you get two dads to make up for the one who sucked!"

"I know!" His life was so cool. "I don't have any sisters," Spike said, thinking about it. "I have some older brothers. Somewhere."

Someday he might check them out. Find out if they were dicks too.

"And Hardison lets me tell people I'm a junior intern." He leaned a little further, watching the animated Ada go to work on the laptop screen.

"Lucky! Papa doesn't say anything like about me." Unfair! "All they say is that I'm not old enough to help yet. Like you have to be double-digits to run a con."

[identity profile] stoleafamily.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I ran cons all by myself when I was nine," Spike sympathized. "...mostly 'cause I had to. But yeah. You should get to help. Or just tell people you're an intern. That's what I did." He grinned. "And Sophie helped one time, and let me pretend I was her nephew. It was awesome."

[identity profile] my2dads.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"If you're crew, you are her nephew," Ada decided. Just then. But that's how she referred to Aunt Sophie and Uncle Nate, after all. "They don't know all the stuff I do anyway. Like the pizza party at school? That was me and nobody even found out about it!"

[identity profile] stoleafamily.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Niiice!" Spike held up his hand for a high-five, grinning. "Uncle Nate is just... yeah." He couldn't be anybody but Uncle Nate. He needed looking out for, some of the time. "Oh. Hey. We should call them!"

[identity profile] my2dads.livejournal.com 2015-04-12 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
"We should!" Ada said. "I'll bet they'll wanna come visit!"

No, children, no.
